The Third Week of December: Journey to the Solstice

15 December – Savour the Present Moment

As the festive season draws closer, it's easy to get caught up in the rush. Take a moment today to slow down and truly savour the present. Whether you’re enjoying a meal, wrapping gifts, or spending time with loved ones, bring your full attention to the experience. Notice the details—the textures, scents, sounds, and emotions around you. By grounding yourself in the present, you can transform even the simplest tasks into moments of joy and connection.

16 December – Practice Gratitude for the Year

Take a little time to reflect on the past year, celebrating both the triumphs and the lessons. Write down three things you are grateful for from 2024—big or small. Perhaps it’s a moment of connection, a challenge you overcame, or even the quiet days that gave you space to breathe. Gratitude allows us to focus on abundance and helps foster contentment as we prepare for the new year ahead.

17 December – Midwinter Candle Ritual

Light a candle this evening to symbolise the returning light. As the flame flickers, reflect on what you want to let go of as we approach the Winter Solstice. Whisper your intentions for release into the quiet and watch as the light reminds you of hope and renewal. Let this simple act be a balm for the darker days, offering warmth and comfort as we transition through the season.

18 December – Comfort in Creativity

Engage in a creative activity today that brings you comfort, such as baking, crafting, journaling, or even arranging festive greenery. Creativity allows us to express emotions and find peace within the process. Let go of the need for perfection—this is about the joy of making, not the end result. Use this time to immerse yourself in a simple, nourishing activity that feels like a gift to your soul.

19 December – A Festive Nature Walk

Take a stroll outdoors and connect with the winter landscape. Notice how the trees rest, the crisp air, and the way the light falls during these shorter days. Bring a small bag and collect seasonal treasures like pinecones, holly, or dried leaves. Use them to create a seasonal centrepiece or simply let their presence in your home remind you of nature’s cycles of rest and renewal.

If you can't go outdoors, you might find it enjoyable to take a break and listen to our Forest Walk meditation.

20 December – Reflect and Reset

As the Winter Solstice approaches, dedicate some time today to quiet introspection. Find a peaceful spot and journal about what this season means to you. What do you wish to release as the year comes to a close? What seeds of intention would you like to plant for the months ahead? Allow this reflection to ground you in the beauty of this transitional time.

21 December – Celebrate the Winter Solstice

The longest night of the year invites us to honour the balance between darkness and light. Mark this special day with a small ritual: light a candle, sip a warm drink, or gather with loved ones. Reflect on the lessons the darker days have brought and welcome the returning light with open arms. This is a time to rest, restore, and reconnect with your inner light as we move forward into brighter days.

See you next week xx
