Winter Spiced Bliss Balls

As the festive season draws near, it’s easy to get swept up in the allure of indulgent treats and sugary delights that fill our homes. But what if we could bring that familiar, cosy taste of Christmas into a nourishing snack that leaves us feeling both festive and revitalised? Enter these WInter Spiced Bliss Balls—a delightful blend of warming spices, toasted oats, nuts, and a touch of rum-soaked dried fruits. Each bite is like a little burst of festive cheer designed to support your well-being through the busy season.

Here’s a recipe that’s not only delicious but offers a lovely alternative to traditional sweets, especially if you’re looking to stay grounded amidst the busyness of holiday gatherings. They’re naturally sweetened with dates, brimming with festive flavours, and simple to make—all without needing an oven.

Feel free to swap out ingredients as necessary; the best thing about these bliss balls is their versatility.

Ingredients:

- 100g rolled oats, toasted

- 60g almond butter (or other nut butter)

- 5 tbsp. maple syrup or honey

- 1 tsp. orange zest

- 1/2 tsp. almond extract

- 30g pecans

- 30g almonds

- 30g pistachios

- 30g mixed seeds

- 20 pitted dates

- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon

- 1/2 tsp. ground ginger

- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves

- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

- A pinch of salt

- 30g rum-soaked dried fruits (like sultanas, currants, or raisins)

Method:

1. Place the nuts in a food processor and pulse until roughly chopped. Add the chopped dates and blend again until combined.

2. Add the remaining ingredients to the food processor and blend until the mixture forms a sticky dough.

3. Using a tablespoon, scoop out portions of the dough and roll them into small balls with your hands.

4. Refrigerate or freeze for up to 3 months. These are a great 'out the door snack' for days you haven't had time for breakfast.

Enjoy these festive, nourishing treats for a taste of Christmas cheer!
